HVAC Duct Seismic Bracing

Lateral & longitudinal seismic bracing assemblies for rectangular and round HVAC ductwork — sized to the post-insulation duct dimensions and engineered to resist seismic action from any horizontal direction.

HVAC duct seismic bracing assembly with lateral and longitudinal braces
Overview

Bracing for Every Duct Run

HVAC duct seismic bracing restrains rectangular and round ductwork against earthquake-induced movement. Lateral braces resist side-to-side displacement, longitudinal braces resist movement along the duct axis, and four-way bracing handles both at key locations.

All members use finished, compatible components — channel, gusset connectors, swivel attachments and anchors — for fast, repeatable installation. Spacing and load capacity are calculated to the carried duct weight and code-required seismic forces.

  • Rectangular & round HVAC duct.
  • Lateral, longitudinal & four-way bracing.
  • GB 50981 spacing; aligned with IBC.
  • Q235B steel, electro-galvanized or HDG.
  • Sized to post-insulation duct dimensions.

What You Need to Build It

Engineered assemblies use these compatible components from a single factory.

FAQ

Common Questions

Does HVAC ductwork need seismic bracing?
Yes — under GB 50981 / IBC, non-structural HVAC ductwork must be braced to resist seismic forces, so the duct stays in place and supplies critical functions during and after an earthquake.
Lateral vs longitudinal bracing — what's the difference?
Lateral bracing resists movement perpendicular to the duct run; longitudinal bracing resists movement along the duct axis. Most installations use both, with four-way bracing at key locations.
How is brace spacing determined?
By calculation against the duct weight (including insulation) and the code-required seismic force, with spacing per GB 50981 — typically every 9–12 m laterally and every 18–24 m longitudinally for standard ductwork.
Do you supply a complete duct bracing system?
Yes — channel, gusset connectors, swivel attachments, beam clamps, threaded rod and concrete anchors from one factory, supplied with project BOM and shop-drawing support.
